Why do Therapy in Nature?

The natural outdoor environment is a powerful therapeutic tool!

The outdoors help restore our attention

  • Distractions are all around us in our fast-paced, digital world and our children’s attention is suffering because of it! Nature helps to build our focus and relax our minds.

Real challenges to build confidence

  • It is important for our children to learn to assess risk and build confidence through facing real life challenges. We build these skills through play working with nature to overcome new, unexpected situations. This helps them become more flexible and resilient!

Build meaningful connections

  • Research proves that time in nature builds social skills such as empathy and compassion. As we connect to the world around us, we are able to better connect to our friends and family!

As owner and lead therapist of Wild Roots OT, I am thrilled to share my passion for nature and holistic health/childhood development with your family! I have been working as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for 5 years with an abundance of experience working with children and families to support childhood development through a play-based approach.

I live with my husband and our young son nestled in the foothills of the Smokies. Both having grown up in Florida, we aspired for a life in the mountains where our children could run wild in the woods, free to explore and play. We made the decision to pack up our FL home and move to TN with the intent to forge our legacy.
